「樹脂サッシ」って?

■樹脂サッシって?
一般的なアルミサッシは、アルミ製の枠にガラスを入れたものです。
これに対し、樹脂サッシはアルミの代わりにPVC——いわゆる塩化ビニール製の枠を用いたものをいいます。
PVC素材を用いるのは室内側だけで、外側はアルミ素材というタイプもあるし、内も外もPVCというタイプもあります。
また、内も外もアルミ製だが、中にPVCを挟んでいるタイプもあります。
すなわち、枠にPVCを用いたものが「樹脂サッシ」と呼ばれるものなのです。

■樹脂サッシにはどんな長所があるの?
樹脂サッシは、一般的なアルミサッシの改良版として登場しました。
広く使われるアルミサッシは、窓設備として非常にすぐれたもので、すきま風が入らず、雨漏りもしないのです。
風によるがたつきも少ないし、枠との密着度を高めれば、遮音性も上がります。
なによりも耐久性が高いということ。
しかし、断熱性の面では劣ってしまいます。
それは、アルミが熱を伝えやすいからです。
最近は複層ガラスなど断熱性の高い窓ガラスが広まり、窓の結露は少なくなったが、ガラスの断熱性が高まっても、枠がアルミのままだと結露を完全に防ぐことができない。
例えば、冬の寒い日、冷たい外気にさらされたアルミ枠は冷え切ってしまい、室内側のアルミも冷たくなる。
この冷たいアルミに室内の暖かい空気がふれると、 空気の温度が一気に下がる。
温度が下がると、空気中に含むことができる水分量が減り、抱えきれない水分が結露としてアルミ枠に付着する——このようにして 結露が生じてしまいます。
そこで、結露を防止するために考えられたのが、枠の素材を変えること。
アルミより熱伝導率が低い樹脂を窓枠に用いることで、結露が生じにくくなるという仕組みにしたのです。
このように、結露が生じないことが樹脂サッシの最大の長所!
それに、見た目や手触りがやさしいことも樹脂サッシの長所になります。

■樹脂サッシに短所はないの。
枠すべてがアルミ素材のと比べた場合、樹脂サッシの短所は耐久性が劣ることとされてきました。
特に、屋外側を樹脂にすると、長持ちしないという問題が起きが ちであるため、室内側は樹脂で、外側はアルミという複合型が主流となっていきました。
しかし、最近は外も内も樹脂で、しかも長持ちするという製品も登場し、選択 肢が広がっています。
それ以外の短所を探すと……。
風合いがよいとされるが、木製の枠(外側はアルミ、内側を木製にしたもの)にはかなわないし。
断熱性の高さも木製枠のほうが上——それが短所といえなくもない。

ちなみに、価格はアルミ枠、樹脂サッシ、木製サッシの順で高くなるのです。
